Footprints: Jazz in Norway vol.5: 1970-1980 (cover)

The fifth instalment in the Jazz in Norway series, ‘Footprints’ focuses on the late 60s and 70s with its far reaching exploration and new styles such as fusion and folk-tinged improvisation. Jazz releases on the domestic market increased during the 70s and new clubs and festivals helped spawn a new generation of performers that included such performers as bassist Arild Andersen, vocalist Radka Toneff, pianist/band-leader Per Husby and bands Moose Loose and Bodega band. The repertoire on ‘Footprints’ span from traditional mainstream and swing to more experimental fusion and folk-music inspired stuff. Representing a lasting legacy from a bygone and important era, ‘Footprints is as vital as a night out in one of Oslo’s sweaty jazz clubs back in ’74.
